Free Printable Literary Guides: Guided Book & Poetry Reports for Elementary Students at Great Peace Academy

As school starts and homeschool teachers begin to put together lesson plans we can often find that the available worksheets for reading guides just simply don’t offer much to inspire true learning in our children. My own son struggles with writing so he needs to be guided in his literary endeavors. That’s why I created these literary guides,  a guided book and poetry report.

With these guided reports the students are prompted to recognize key elements in stories, books or poems. Whether it’s identifying the main character  or characters, or it’s finding the problem in the story and understanding the resolution of the problem, with the guided prompts students see what parts of the story are pivotal to the overall theme of the story.

The poetry guide is a simple guide to help student begin to understand the rhythm and theme of a poem.

These guides can be used up through 6th grade, depending on the student’s writing ability. I recently updated them a bit and wanted to share them with you.

While the guided reports are simple, they help the student to begin to have comprehension of what to look for in what they are reading and helps them to learn how to disseminate that information to other people.

Thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for. The reports are simple and to the point, yet have a decent amount of color to them. Love them!

Thank you for the simple, straight-forward, but still “fun” book report form! Finding one for my homeschooled 4th and 5th grade girls that didn’t cost a lot hasn’t been easy! Yours is great. Thank you!
